Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

I was reading my local newspaper. In this week’s TV section there is an advertisement for a big, new box set of CDs. The very famous and influential classical music label Deutsche Grammophon  has been celebrating it’s birthday – 111 years of recording and releasing music –  with a massive series of “best of” discs. The cover of one of them was shown in the TV guide ad.  It looks like this:

Remind you of anything?

You can make up your own mind…..

  1. Interesting! Then again, everything comes from something, can be subliminal/subconscious. “Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.” Lewis.

That having been said I do despise plagiarism, the deliberate theft of another’s ideas.

  3. The 1’s maybe but DG has been using these colors for decades with the Deutsche Grammophon (Yellow) and Polydor (Red) labels.
